The Tourism Committee wants to increase tourism to Weatherford. One of those methods is hosting an art show. The committee had a show in March and hosted their second Saturday, September 19. The show brought out several of the Future Artists in Action. These young people were able to paint their own souvenir t-shirt, paint a pumpkin, have their face painted and even paint on a canvas.
We had several participants in the “Art in Action” and some competed for prizes. The Chamber wants to thank our sponsors that made this possible. Our sponsors were Ameriprise Financial: Leon Henry, Wallace Insurance, Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel and Weatherford Public Library. Our winners were: Kathy Cunning in the Painting division, Jay Hutton in the Drawing division and Bertha Lombard in the Mixed Media.
“Art in Action” is designed to have the artists actually performing their art during the day. The public is always invited to come see the artists work. Many of the artists also have their work for sale. Be looking for the next show in March.
