Zonta is an international organization working to advance the status of women worldwide. The local Zonta Club of Parker County concludes their year with the Status of Women luncheon with an outstanding speaker and to recognize scholarship recipients and the Outstanding Clubwoman of the Year. The luncheon will be May 6 from 11:30-1:00 at the North Side Baptist gymnasium.

The speaker will be Mel Birdwell, the wife of Senator Brian Birdwell, who survived the attacks of 911. She has some amazing stories to tell and you will want to be there to hear them. The luncheon is open to the public.  The Zonta Club of Parker County has asked that any business wishing to underwrite a scholarship to let Arleen Atkins of Weatherford College or Peggy Hutton know. The business professionals will be invited to the luncheon as our guest to award a certificate to the young person receiving that scholarship. The Zonta Club of Parker County has received numerous applications so we are looking for several businesses to step up and assist with awarding scholarships.

Sponsorships are $300 for a table of 8 and individual tickets are $30. Reservations can be made with Angie Hernandez, chair of the event, at 817-594-2747 or Peggy Hutton, Chamber, at 817-596-3801. This is going to be an amazing luncheon that you don’t want to miss!
